Экзотическая шляпа из гриба трутовика

Эту шляпу, сделанную из волокнистой внутренней части гриба трутовика (Fomes fomentarius), Уильям Дж. О’Рердон прислал по почте в штаб-квартиру National Geographic в 1920 году.

В сопроводительном письме были указаны размеры экзотического головного убора, пометка для редакторов сообщала, что эта «редкостная и экстравагантная шляпа сделана из гриба».

И сегодня из этого растущего вокруг деревьев гриба, достигающего 45 сантиметров в поперечнике, продолжают изготавливать дамские шляпки.
